Answers to the most common questions about ordering, production, delivery, and caring for CIVITAS pieces.

Questions & Answers

How to order CIVITAS elements?

You can start an order through the contact form or by emailing info@civitas-studio.com. Once availability, the chosen finish, and production time are confirmed, we send an offer for payment.

How long does production take?

Every CIVITAS piece is made by hand, to order. The standard production time for catalogue products is 4 to 6 weeks from order confirmation.

For custom-made elements, the production time can differ, depending on dimensions, complexity, and design requirements. We agree on and confirm the production and delivery time for such elements before ordering and payment.

What are our products made of?

Our products are made from high-quality cementitious composites, including GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete), HPC (High Performance Concrete), and UHPC (Ultra High Performance Concrete).

Instead of classic steel rebar, we use glass fibers, which give the material extra strength and allow us to create thinner, lighter, and visually more refined elements.

This way, the concrete retains its natural strength and character while taking on a form suited to contemporary furniture and architecture.

Why do elements differ from one another?

Fiber concrete is a natural mineral material whose appearance depends on composition, pigment, casting, and finishing. No two pieces are ever fully identical — slight differences in tone and texture are a natural characteristic of the material, not a flaw.

What warranty applies to CIVITAS products?

CIVITAS products carry a 5-year warranty.

Our warranty covers the durability of our products under normal conditions of use. This includes resistance to high temperatures and winter conditions, which on their own should not cause an element to crack or break.

With concrete, minor micro-capillary cracks can occur during the material's natural drying and curing process. These are part of the character of cementitious composites and are not considered a product defect.

The warranty applies to standard products from the CIVITAS catalogue.

How does shipping work?

Shipping is calculated separately and depends on the location, the product's dimensions, and the mode of transport. The cost and method of delivery are agreed upon and confirmed before ordering.

CIVITAS can arrange delivery to the agreed location. In that case, the product is inspected and prepared for transport before dispatch, in a manner appropriate to its dimensions and the nature of the material.

The client may also arrange pickup and transport through their own carrier or a third party. In that case, responsibility for proper pickup, handling, loading, insurance, and transport of the product passes to the organizer of the transport from the moment the product is collected.

CIVITAS cannot assume responsibility for damage that occurs during transport not organized by CIVITAS. We recommend that transport always be agreed with us in advance, so we can provide instructions for the safe handling and transport of the specific product.

Upon receiving the product, the client or their carrier is required to check its condition and report any visible damage before or at the time of pickup.

CIVITAS is responsible for the product and its production within the terms of sale and warranty, regardless of who organizes transport, but does not assume responsibility for damage caused by improper handling or transport not organized by CIVITAS.

Can I order a sample before buying?

Yes. Before ordering, you can request material and finish samples so you can view them in your own space and in natural light.

Samples are sent upon prior payment of an amount that serves as a sample deposit. After reviewing the samples, they must be returned to CIVITAS within the agreed timeframe and undamaged.

Once the return is received and verified, we refund the deposit to the account from which the payment was made.

Since samples are handmade, minor differences in tone and texture compared to the final product are possible. The sample therefore serves as the best possible representation of the material, but it does not represent a promise of a perfectly identical surface on the final product.

Can I order a piece in a custom dimension or colour?

Yes. CIVITAS models are not limited to the standard dimensions in the catalogue — the same design can be produced in other dimensions, adapted to your space and needs, within the constructional and material limits of each model. Special colours and non-standard dimensions are charged additionally.

How does the surface behave in everyday use?

CIVITAS products are made for real life and everyday use. Coffee, wine, oil, and similar liquids won't immediately pose a problem for the surface, but as with any natural material, we recommend wiping up spills once you notice them.

There's no need to watch every move or handle the product with excessive caution. It's enough to act responsibly and treat the material with basic care.

The protective layer gives the surface the resistance it needs, while proper maintenance helps its appearance and character stay preserved over the years.

CIVITAS is made to be used — not kept under glass.

Have an idea for a piece you'd like to bring to life?

CIVITAS is open to collaborating with furniture designers, architects, and creatives who want to turn their idea into a real product.

If you have a concept, a sketch, or simply an idea for a piece you believe has its own character, we can explore together how to develop and realize it in CIVITAS material.

Collaboration can be one-off, through the development of a single piece, or longer-term — through the development of your own model or an entire collection.

A good idea doesn't have to stay on paper.
We can give it material, form, and a place in real space.

Reach out to us through the contact form to collaborate.
